Kairuni woman remanded over attempted murder

Shenell Ghanie

A 28-year-old domestic worker of Kairuni, Linden-Soesdyke Highway, was on Friday remanded to prison after being charged with the attempted murder of a man.

A release from the police said that Shenell Ghanie appeared before Magistrate Tameika Clarke at the Friendship Magistrate’s Court, where the indictable charge was read to her.

The charge alleges that Ghanie attempted to murder a man during an incident at Kairuni Village on June 29.

Because the charge is indictable, Ghanie was not required to enter a plea.

She was remanded to prison and the matter was adjourned until August 4 for a report.
