Fire at Home Zone staff quarters contained to single building at Little Diamond

The Guyana Fire Service (GFS) yesterday said it responded to a fire at the living quarters of employees attached to Home Zone at Little Diamond, East Bank Demerara.

“Firefighters from the Diamond and Eccles Fire Stations responded promptly and immediately commenced firefighting operations upon arrival,” the GFS said in a statement.

Through swift and coordinated efforts, the GFS said the blaze was successfully contained to a single building, preventing it from spreading to nearby structures.

The statement said investigations are currently underway to determine the cause of the fire. “The Guyana Fire Service reminds members of the public to remain vigilant and to report fires and other emergencies immediately by calling 912.”
