Guyanese musician Emmanuel James, known as ‘LilSaint Da Artiste’ died today in circumstances that remain unknown.
In a widely circulated video on social media, James had said some time ago that for years now, he was battling with health issues due to excessive alcohol consumption. Further, he shared how he underwent surgery after doctors found a mass on his pancreas.
However, his exact cause of death remains unknown and calls to his family members were unsuccessful.
The APNU Coalition extended its condolences on the passing of the artiste, describing him as a talented performer whose music touched many lives. The coalition noted that, like many public figures, LilSaint had faced criticism and harsh public commentary, and urged society to show greater compassion and kindness, recognising that people often struggle with unseen challenges.
APNU also expressed sympathy to his wife, commending her steadfast support throughout his life, and called on young people to take their health seriously by seeking medical attention when necessary. The coalition said LilSaint’s passing should serve as a reminder to be more compassionate towards others and more responsible for personal well-being.
The Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport issued a statement about James’ passing, noting that he was a rising talent whose contributions had begun to make a significant impact on the country’s entertainment industry.
The ministry said that Lil Saint had participated in the 2025 Dancehall Monarch Competition, where he secured second place and captured the Best Newcomer title, achievements it said reflected his exceptional talent and promising future in music.
The ministry described Lil Saint as an emerging and versatile artiste who had gained recognition in both the dancehall and soca genres, adding that his passion, creativity and dedication to his craft had left a lasting impression on audiences and fellow performers.
Noting that the circumstances surrounding his death remain unclear, the ministry extended condolences to his family, friends, fans and the wider creative community.
