Registration and contribution services offered by the National Insurance Scheme (NIS) are expected to become fully available online from October 15, Minister of Public Service, Government Efficiency and Implementation Zulfikar Ally has said.
“By October 15 of this year, we should have the registrations and contributions fully online, fully digital,” Ally told the Department of Public Information (DPI) during an interview marking the government’s first year in office following the PPP/C’s re-election in September 2025.
The minister said the initiative was intended to make NIS services more accessible and reduce the need for persons to visit the agency’s offices for routine transactions.
The programme is to be implemented in phases, with the NIS’s compliance and benefits services expected to be fully digitised by the end of this year. The changes are expected to allow persons to access the services remotely using mobile phones, tablets or computers.
Ally said the exercise formed part of a wider effort to move beyond merely converting paper records into electronic formats and towards the complete digitisation of government services.
He said online platforms, appointment systems and Integrated Government Service Centres had been introduced or expanded over the past year.
According to Ally, persons with limited access to technology or who require help using the online systems would continue to receive assistance at physical service centres and help desks established at Neighbourhood Democratic Councils. He said this support would be particularly important for senior citizens as more government services are placed online.
