Supermarket guard shot dead at Non Pareil

Police in Regional Division 4 ‘C’ are investigating the fatal shooting of 25-year-old Keion Wilman at a supermarket in Non Pareil, East Coast Demerara last night. 

Wilman was on duty when he was shot by two men who arrived on a motorcycle.

The suspects subsequently escaped.

The police have said that they obtained CCTV footage and recovered ammunition as they seek to identify the two men behind the killing.

One of the men  opened fire on Wilman before both suspects escaped on the motorcycle.

Wilman sustained gunshot wounds to his upper body and was taken to the Enmore Regional Hospital, where he died while receiving treatment.

Crime scene investigators recovered a suspected warhead and a live 9mm round.

A 12-gauge shotgun and four live cartridges issued to Wilman for his duties as an armed security guard were also recovered and lodged.

His body is at the Memorial Gardens Funeral Home awaiting a post-mortem examination.

Investigations are continuing.
