Weight restriction for Parika/Supenaam service

The Ministry of Public Works’ Transport and Harbours Department yesterday said that with immediate effect only vehicles with a maximum gross weight of twenty tons will be allowed on the Parika/Supenaam service.

This weight restriction on the loading linkspan bridge is to ensure the safety of all vehicles utilizing the service owing to the current rehabilitation works at the Parika Ferry Stelling, the ministry said.

In a separate notice the ministry said that owing to the withdrawal of the MV Sabanto there have been changes to the usual Parika/Supenaam daily ferry service.

The public was urged to pay close attention to the new schedule which will be in effect until the MV Sabanto resumes operation.
