Dear Editor,
I watched the recreation of the PAN AM incident in Lockerbie, Scotland and one parent went up from London and this was her statement to the policeman just outside of the cordon:
“Please, we just want to know what happened to our son, his name is Tim Burman and here is a picture of him. We know he was onboard, we dropped him at the airport but has he been found?”
His mother went on to further state “I just want to see him, please I just want to see my boy. I am a nurse, I have seen bodies before. I mean since he has not been found, what if he is out there alone in the cold?” And then she broke down.
I reflected on this because closure is an important conclusion for every family. And I reconcile it to a mother who said, “even if I see the bones, I will be satisfied”, when asked on the remains of her family member on the MV Barima.
This Irfaan Ali Government has to step up and bring that ship up from under the waters. There is no alternative.
Dear Mr. President, why are you not responding to the families?
Yours faithfully,
Khemraj Harryram
