The 2026 Courts Optical Boys’ Under-11 School Football Tournament will kick off on Saturday with 18 matches at the Ministry of Education Ground on Carifesta Avenue.
The opening round will begin at 11:00hrs and feature schools from Georgetown and Regions One, Two, Three, Four, Five, Six and Seven. The participating teams have been divided into eight groups of four.
Ahead of the tournament, the Petra Organisation held a team briefing and ball-distribution exercise at the same venue on Thursday. Representatives were provided with the fixtures and other important information concerning the competition.
The exercise was chaired by Petra Organisation representative Troy Peters, while Troy Mendonca presented the fixtures. Remarks were also delivered by Dem-Life Sales and Marketing Coordinator Oceola Van Doimen, Ministry of Education Unit of Allied Arts Administrator Nicholas Fraser and Courts Optical Manager Richard Simpson.
Balls were distributed to the participating teams, while Petra Organisation representative Nareeza Latif delivered the closing remarks.
Saturday’s action will get underway with three matches at 11:00hrs. St. John will face Queenstown, Agatash will oppose Redeemer and Batavia will meet Ann’s Grove.
At noon, Smith Memorial will play Genesis, Potaro will face Lichfield Primary and Waramuri Primary will battle Clonbrook. Santa Rosa will then oppose St. Therese’s at 13:00hrs, while GIA Harpy Eagle face Stella Maris and Tucville meet Kabakaburi.
The 14:00hrs fixtures will see Goed Fortuin taking on Pakuri Primary, F.E. Pollard opposing GIA Arapaima and defending champions Leonora facing Soesdyke.
St. Gabriel’s will meet Belladrum at 15:00hrs, West Primary will play St. Aloysius and Colaaco will oppose St. Pius.
The day will conclude with three matches at 16:00hrs. Marian Academy will face St. Stephen’s, Santa Rosa will play Ann’s Grove and Waramuri Primary will meet Genesis.
Group A consists of Santa Rosa, Batavia, Ann’s Grove and St. Therese’s, while Group B contains Marian Academy, GIA Harpy Eagle, Stella Maris and St. Stephen’s.
Waramuri Primary, Smith Memorial, Genesis and Clonbrook make up Group C, while Leonora, St. Gabriel’s, Belladrum and Soesdyke are in Group D.
Group E features Potaro, Tucville, Kabakaburi and Lichfield Primary. West Primary, F.E. Pollard, GIA Arapaima and St. Aloysius will compete in Group F.
Agatash, Goed Fortuin, Pakuri Primary and Redeemer form Group G, while Colaaco, St. John, Queenstown and St. Pius complete Group H.
