Jayden Seales claimed five wickets as West Indies defeated Pakistan by 90 runs in the opening Test at Tarouba to take an unbeatable 1-0 lead in the two-match series.

Set 211 for victory, Pakistan were dismissed for 120 in just over 40 overs as the West Indies fast bowlers dominated the fourth day. The defeat was Pakistan’s eighth consecutive loss in an away Test.

West Indies began the day with Shamar Joseph and Kemar Roach looking to extend their overnight lead of 155. The pair carried their eighth-wicket partnership to 61 before Joseph was bowled by Mohammad Ali.

The last two wickets added another 27 runs as the hosts were dismissed for 181. Mohammad Abbas completed a five-wicket haul for Pakistan, but West Indies had built a challenging target.

Seales then removed Imam-ul-Haq, Azan Awais and Salman Agha during an accurate opening spell. Justin Greaves continued his impressive match by bowling Mohammad Rizwan and trapping Aamer Jamal leg before wicket.

The injured Shan Masood batted down the order because of a fractured finger but was unable to rescue Pakistan. Babar Azam completed his 32nd Test half-century during a late partnership with Abbas, although the result was already beyond reach.

Seales ended the contest by trapping Abbas leg before wicket shortly after tea, completing his five-wicket haul and sealing West Indies’ commanding victory on what would have been Sir Garfield Sobers’ 90th birthday.
