The Guyana Football Federation (GFF) plans to give more Regional Association leaders access to workshops and training as its growing competition programme increases the need for stronger local administration.
GFF President Wayne Forde outlined that commitment while highlighting the importance of continued development for football officials. His comments followed the Federation’s participation in the 2026 Concacaf Professional Football Development Seminar in the Dominican Republic.
“With the increase in competitions being organised and coordinated by the Regional Associations through initiatives such as the Youth Ensemble Programme, the GFF recognises the importance of strengthening the capacity of regional leadership,” Forde said.
He explained that further workshops, training programmes and other development opportunities would help regional leaders improve their knowledge and gain the tools needed to organise competitions more professionally and effectively.
Competitions Coordinator Joyann Williams represented the GFF at the September 16–17 seminar in Santiago de los Caballeros. Concacaf’s Professional Football Development team organised the event, which brought together club licensing managers and league directors from all 41 Member Associations.
The two-day programme addressed practical aspects of football administration, including how to implement the Concacaf Club Licensing Regulations and meet compliance timelines and benchmarking requirements.
Participants also reviewed updates on club competitions and shared best practices in club licensing and league operations. An overview of Concacaf’s technological tools showed how the regional body supports the implementation, monitoring and management of its processes.
The gathering allowed administrators to exchange knowledge and experiences while examining approaches to professional football development across the region.
