Golden Jaguars crush Dominica 8-1 to complete perfect Nations League window

Guyana’s Curtez Kellman (2nd from right) celebrates his goal with Golden Jaguars head coach Marco Bonofiglio

Guyana’s Golden Jaguars continued their dominant Concacaf Nations League campaign with a commanding 8-1 victory over Dominica on Sunday, recording their fourth consecutive win and strengthening their grip on the top spot in League B, Group A.

Guyana produced another ruthless attacking display at the Estadio Centroamericano in Mayagüez, Puerto Rico, racing to a 4-0 halftime advantage before adding four more goals after the break.

Omari Glasgow, Deon Moore and captain Elliot Bonds each scored twice, while Curtez Kellman and Enoch George also found the back of the net as Guyana moved to a maximum 12 points from four matches.

Glasgow opened the scoring after just five minutes before Moore doubled the advantage in the 19th minute. Bonds made it 3-0 six minutes later, and Glasgow completed his brace in the 33rd minute to put the Golden Jaguars firmly in control heading into the interval.

Guyana showed no signs of slowing after the restart, with Slingerz FC forward Kellman extending the advantage in the 54th minute.

Moore struck again three minutes later for his second goal of the contest, pushing the score to 6-0.

Dominica pulled one back through Reon Cuffy in the 68th minute, but Guyana responded almost immediately as George restored the six-goal cushion one minute later.

Bonds then completed his brace in the 75th minute to seal the emphatic 8-1 victory.

The result followed Guyana’s earlier 5-1 triumph over Dominica and completed a perfect September/October Nations League window for the Golden Jaguars.

With 12 points from four outings, Guyana sit firmly at the summit of League B, Group A, having combined their perfect record with an impressive attacking return.

The Golden Jaguars will now turn their attention to the November international window, when they are scheduled to meet Puerto Rico and the Cayman Islands again.

Guyana will use the period between matches to recover and assess their performances as they look to maintain their momentum and finish the Nations League campaign strongly.
