Riddim Squad spread the goals across six players to beat Black Pearl 6–1 as the GFF/GFA Youth Ensemble U17 tournament began at Parade Ground, Georgetown, on Saturday, September 12.

Their emphatic victory capped an opening programme that also featured a Ryan Sobers hat-trick in Pele FC’s 5–0 win over Vengy. Beacon FC collected three points and three goals through a walkover against Eastveldt FC.

Black Pearl briefly matched Riddim Squad in the third game of the day. Keshawn Henry, wearing No. 9, scored after four minutes, but Black Pearl’s No. 9, Aluko Jervis, answered in the 10th minute to make it 1–1.

Riddim Squad moved ahead again through Jashawn Marshall in the 30th minute, then steadily pulled away. Inshan Alli scored in the 47th minute and Dequwan James followed in the 61st.

Malakai Gowen extended the advantage in the 67th minute, before Gavin Towler completed the scoring in the 76th.

Earlier, Sobers delivered the opening day’s only hat-trick as Pele won the tournament’s first match without conceding.

Pele’s Dashawn Hopkinson, broke the deadlock in the 32nd minute. Sobers then scored twice within three minutes, finding the net in the 55th and 58th to put his side firmly in control.

Samuel Lugo added Pele’s fourth goal in the 70th minute, before Sobers completed his hat-trick in the 80th to seal the 5–0 victory.

The second fixture brought Beacon their walkover win over Eastveldt, completing the opening day’s results.

Three more matches are scheduled for next Saturday at the same venue as the 2026 league continues.
