Guyana’s Under-19 players will soon have the chance to measure their progress when they compete in the Cricket West Indies Rising Stars Under-19 Championship.
The squad is currently in encampment and is scheduled to leave Guyana on July 9 for the regional tournament. The championship will give the players an opportunity to represent the country and continue their development against other young cricketers from across the region.
Guyana Cricket Board President Bissoondyal Singh visited the team on Sunday and spoke with the players and management staff. He encouraged the squad to stay focused, disciplined and committed during the final stage of preparation.
Singh said the players had earned the opportunity to wear Guyana’s colours and urged them to make full use of it.
“It is always a proud moment to see young cricketers earning the opportunity to represent Guyana. You have worked hard to reach this stage, and I encourage each of you to remain committed to the process, play for one another and give your very best every time you step onto the field,” Singh said.
He also reminded the players that the tournament is not only about results, but also about gaining experience and showing their ability at the regional level.
“Represent your country with pride, respect the game and enjoy the experience. The Guyana Cricket Board has every confidence in this team, and we wish you every success at the championship,” Singh added.
