The United States and Guyana continue to strengthen their partnership through security cooperation and shared commitment.
A release yesterday from the US Embassy said that recently, a Mobile Training Team from the U.S. Air Force’s 571st Mobile Support Advisory Squadron partnered with the Guyana Defence Force Air Corps for the second security cooperation engagement of the year.
This engagement focused on engine maintenance for the King Air aircraft, providing hands-on technical training designed to enhance maintenance capabilities, improve aircraft turnaround times, and increase sortie generation rates. Greater operational readiness enables the Guyana Defence Force Air Corps to respond more effectively to regional security challenges and natural disasters, strengthening resilience and preparedness, the release noted.
The GDF was recently criticized as two of its helicopters were not working on July 18 when the MV Barima capsized killing dozens of people.
