Gun found in unfinished Kwakwani building

Police are investigating the discovery of a firearm and ammunition in an unfinished building at Kwakwani Park, Upper Berbice River.

According to police, ranks acting on information went to the unoccupied concrete structure at around 12.30 am on Saturday and carried out a search.

A black plastic bag containing a silver Smith & Wesson 9mm pistol was found. The gun was fitted with a magazine containing one live 9mm round.

The firearm, magazine and ammunition were taken to the Kwakwani Police Station and lodged pending examination.

No arrest was made and investigations are continuing.
