The US Embassy today posted a notice to applicants for visitor visas stating that they will have to provide evidence that they had been able to pay their medical bills during previous trips to the US. This is part of the Trump administration’s policy to ensure that visitors do not tax the health system.
The post on its Facebook page said:
Did you receive medical treatment in the United States in the past, including for the birth of a child? If you’re re-applying for a visitor’s visa, you must submit evidence that:
• All medical bills from your treatment have been paid in full, and
• You did NOT use U.S. public insurance programs, such as Medicaid, to cover the cost of care.
Make sure to gather these documents ahead of time to help ensure a smooth visa application process.
