In a joint statement, the Chairman of the Board of Directors, Jairam Petam, and the Chief Executive Officer, Dr Paul Cheong, have noted with concern the recent statement by We Invest in Nationhood MP and former GuySuCo executive Vishnu Panday which seeks to portray a division between the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer and suggests the existence of internal conflict within the Corporation’s leadership.
“These claims are completely false, irresponsible, and without any factual basis.
“We categorically reject the suggestion that there is any division between us or that either of us is pursuing personal ambitions at the expense of the Corporation. We enjoy a strong professional relationship built on mutual respect, open communication, and a shared commitment to restoring GuySuCo to sustainable profitability”, the duo said in a statement on Wednesday.
As Chairman and Chief Executive Officer respectively, they say that they fully understand and respect their distinct roles within the governance structure of the Corporation. Decisions, they said, are made collaboratively,
At a time when the Corporation is preparing to commence the Second Crop of 2026, Petam and Cheong said that attempts to create the impression of discord within the leadership are particularly unfortunate. Such unfounded statements serve only to distract employees from the important work ahead and undermine the collective effort required to deliver a successful crop.
“We therefore urge employees not to be distracted by unfounded speculation or malicious commentary. Instead, let us remain focused on the task before us. Success in the Second Crop will require teamwork, discipline, and commitment from every level of the Corporation”, they said.
