A fire yesterday severely damaged the upper flat of a building at Lot 247 West Front Road, East La Penitence, Georgetown.
According to the Guyana Fire Service, it initially received a report of grass burning at the location. However, when firefighters arrived, they found the upper floor of the building engulfed in flames.
The blaze was extinguished, but the upper flat sustained severe damage, while the lower flat suffered minor water damage.
The cause of the fire is being investigated.
