Cannabis found at stall on Pouderoyen Tarmac

A 20-year-old construction worker is in police custody after 101.9 grams of suspected cannabis were allegedly found at a stall on the Pouderoyen Tarmac, West Bank Demerara.

Police said the discovery was made on Saturday, September 12, 2026, during an operation conducted by ranks of Regional Division #3.

Ranks reportedly contacted the 20-year-old Phoenix Park resident at a stall on the tarmac and conducted a search in his presence.

During the search, police allegedly found a black plastic bag containing 59 small transparent zip-lock bags, each containing leaves, seeds and stems suspected to be cannabis.

The man was arrested and taken to the Vreed-en-Hoop Police Station, along with the suspected narcotics.

The substance was weighed in his presence and amounted to 101.9 grams.

The suspect remains in custody as investigations continue.
