Farm house ravaged by fire

The Guyana Fire Service (GFS) today responded to a fire at Lot 87, Farm, East Bank Demerara.

Water Tender #127 from the Diamond Fire Station and Water Carrier #20 from the Eccles Fire Station, along with their respective crews, were dispatched to the location.

Upon arrival, the GFS said that firefighters observed a two-storey concrete building engulfed in flames, with the fire concentrated on the upper floor.

Through swift and coordinated firefighting efforts, firefighters brought the blaze under control, contained it to the upper floor of the building, and prevented it from spreading to a nearby structure.

The fire was subsequently extinguished, and crews conducted the necessary mopping-up operations to ensure there were no remaining hotspots.

Investigations are ongoing to determine the cause of the fire.
