In a post on its Facebook page yesterday, the United States Embassy said that visa screening does not end after a visa has been issued. It warned that if you break the law or misuse your visa it may be revoked.
It also gave advice to those planning to apply for a visa.
“U.S. national security is our top priority. Every traveler undergoes extensive security screening including checks against law enforcement and counterterrorism databases. Your visa won’t be issued until all security concerns are fully resolved.
“If you were arrested in the past, you may choose to bring documents to your interview showing the disposition of your case, such as a police certificate or court records (e.g., a Certificate of Summary Jurisdiction). Documents are reviewed at the discretion of the interviewing Consular officer”, the embassy said.
