Ad showing Sheriff guards with spades pulled

The advertisement that was pulled

An advertisement posted on Sunday on the Sheriff News Network Facebook page showing two Sheriff Security officers holding spades has been removed after drawing public attention in the wake of a viral video of its owner Ameir Ahmed assaulting a man with the same implement.

The advertisement promoted the company’s security services and featured the two uniformed officers posing with spades.

After Kiskadee Watch contacted Ahmed for a comment yesterday, he said he was unaware of the advertisement, explaining that he is currently out of the country.

“I just spoke to them. Not professional. I not in Guyana so I not checking. Thanks for bringing it to my attention,” Ahmed said.

The advertisement was subsequently removed from the page.

The post came after a video circulated on Sunday showing Ahmed repeatedly striking a man with a spade while another individual restrained him. Ahmed has defended his actions, saying the incident occurred several months ago after $9 million was stolen from his vehicle at the Sheriff Street Bond.

The video has since sparked widespread discussion on social media over the use of force shown in the incident.
