President  Irfaan Ali said the opening of a representative office of Citibank—one of America’s largest banking institutions—opens a door between Guyana and the international financial architecture where capital can flow, partnerships can be built and opportunities created.

Delivering the feature address last evening at the official opening of the Citigroup representative office, a release from the Office of the President said that Ali underscored that Citibank’s choice of Guyana “sends a signal—not only about Citibank’s confidence in the opportunities here, but also about how Guyana is increasingly being viewed by the international financial community”.

Citi describes itself as a leading global bank for institutions with cross-border needs and  a global provider in wealth management among other services.
