The Cheddi Jagan International Airport (CJIA) says it has retained the number one position among airports in Latin America and the Caribbean in the third-quarter 2026 Airport Service Quality (ASQ) survey.
In a release issued yesterday, the airport corporation said the survey, administered by Airports Council International, measures passenger satisfaction across several aspects of airport services.
These include the overall travel experience, check-in and security processing, cleanliness, thermal comfort, signage, and the helpfulness and courtesy of frontline personnel.
Results shared by the corporation show CJIA scored 4.92 for overall passenger experience, above the customised panel average of 4.01. The airport ranked first among the 27 airports in that panel and 64th in the ASQ global ranking.”
Chief Executive Officer Ramesh Ghir credited frontline staff, security personnel, immigration officers and airline partners for the result. He said the corporation remained committed to maintaining service standards as passenger traffic grows.
Minister of Public Utilities and Aviation Deodat Indar attributed the recognition to government investment in aviation infrastructure and efforts to improve airport services. He said these were important to providing a positive passenger experience and strengthening Guyana’s position as a regional aviation hub.
The corporation said infrastructure improvements being advanced include runway and taxiway rehabilitation, expanded terminal capacity, modernised boarding bridges, automated baggage systems and upgrades to airfield security infrastructure.
It also cited improvements to commercial spaces and executive lounges, alongside hospitality developments near the airport, as part of its modernisation efforts.
