Police in Regional Division 4’A’ say they are investigating an armed robbery during which a 33-year-old contractor was shot yesterday on Conversation Tree Road, Bel Air, Georgetown.
According to a police press release, the incident occurred at about 11 am on Monday, August 31, 2026. The police dd not name the contractor.
Investigations revealed that the contractor was seated in the front passenger seat of a motor bus which had stopped at a traffic light when two unidentified men, travelling on a black and red motorcycle, approached.
The pillion rider dismounted, drew a handgun and demanded that the contractor hand over his grey haversack, valued at $5,000. The bag contained personal documents.
The contractor refused and the gunman discharged a round, striking him in the left thigh. The gunman then relieved him of the haversack before escaping with his accomplice south along Conversation Tree Road.
The injured man was subsequently taken to a private medical facility, where he received treatment. His condition was listed as stable.
Detectives processed the scene and recovered a spent warhead from the front passenger seat of the motor bus. The motorcycle believed to have been used by the suspects was later found abandoned.
Police are reviewing CCTV footage as investigations continue.
