Fourth suspect arrested in Le Repentir Cemetery murder probe

Kevin Lawson

Police have arrested a fourth suspect in connection with the brutal killing of 39-year-old Levi Williams, whose decomposed body was discovered stuffed inside a barrel at Le Repentir Cemetery on Christmas night  2025.

The suspect, identified as 33-year-old Kevin Lawson, also known by the aliases “Baby” and “Edgar Lawson,” was arrested on Saturday during a cordon-and-search operation conducted between 6:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. in the Farm area, East Bank Demerara.

Crime Chief Wendell Blanhum confirmed yesterday that the latest suspect was arrested as part of the ongoing investigation into the murder.

According to the Guyana Police Force, Lawson had been on the run since the killing.

Investigators believe Williams also known as “Vamperous” was murdered sometime between the early hours of December 23 and the night of December 25, 2025, at a location on Charlotte Street, Georgetown.

Police allege that Williams was accused by a group of men of stealing a firearm, which led to a confrontation. During the incident, he was reportedly restrained at a suspected drug block and severely beaten with wire until he became helpless.

Investigators further say the victim’s body was placed inside a blue plastic bag, transported in a motor bus, and later dumped at Le Repentir Cemetery, where it was abandoned inside a barrel between Louisa Row and St. Stephen Street.

Three other men have already been charged in connection with the murder. They are Randy Mars, Aaron Khan, and Jamal David.

The investigation remains ongoing.
