Cuban man fatally hit by high pressure hose

The police are investigating a fatal industrial accident that claimed the life of a 25-year-old Cuban national during construction works at Providence, East Bank Demerara.

Dead is Yuviosmar Galindo Cardona.

According to police, the incident occurred at about 9:45 a.m. on Friday while Cardona was operating a high-pressure hose attached to a cement machine.

Preliminary investigations indicate that he reportedly lost control of the hose, causing it to swing and strike him in the head.

He was rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival by a doctor.

The body has since been taken to a funeral home, where it is awaiting a post-mortem examination.

Police said investigations into the fatal incident are ongoing.
