Rehabilitation works along the East Bank Demerara corridor under the Good Success to Timehri Road Project are progressing, the Ministry of Public Works has said.
In a statement, the ministry said sections of the roadway have been widened and resurfaced as part of efforts to improve its structural integrity and provide safer and smoother travel.
According to the ministry, the upgrades are expected to improve traffic flow, reduce travel times and make commuting more comfortable along the heavily travelled corridor.
It said motorists have reported that the newly paved sections have allowed traffic to flow more freely and reduced wear and tear on vehicles. One regular commuter was quoted as saying that travelling along the corridor had become less stressful and that journey times were expected to decrease further once the project was completed.
The ministry said it remained committed to completing the works while seeking to minimise disruptions to commuters.
