LIAT flight returns to CJIA because of engine issue

At 11.55 am today LIAT Flight 5L770 departed the Cheddi Jagan International (CJIA) Airport, Timehri and at about 12.25 pm it advised the control tower that it would be returning because of an engine-related matter.

A statement today from the CJIA said the aircraft subsequently landed safely and all 47 passengers disembarked without incident.

The aircraft remains at the CJIA while LIAT’s technical team evaluates the issue and works to resolve it.

The statement said that the Guyana Civil Aviation Authority and the CJIA are working closely with LIAT on this matter.

All relevant emergency services including the fire service were alerted and placed on standby.
