Minister inspects Palmyra to Moleson Creek Road expansion

The ongoing works

Minister within the Ministry of Public Works Madanlall Ramraj yesterday inspected works on Lot 2 of the Palmyra to Moleson Creek Road Expansion Project in Region Six, where construction is reported to be slightly ahead of schedule.

According to a Ministry of Public Works statement, Ramraj was accompanied by Procurement Manager Andy Mahadeo, Assistant Project Manager Kareem Critchlow, ministry engineers and representatives of the China Road and Bridge Corporation (CRBC), the contractor for the project.

The ministry said Lot 2 is 23% complete, marginally ahead of its scheduled target of 22.8%.

It added that drainage works on both sides of the roadway have been completed and that the next phase of construction will involve the placement of crusher run and other road base materials before asphalt is laid.

During the visit, Ramraj said the expanded roadway is expected to reduce travel time, improve connectivity between communities and support commercial and agricultural activity along the corridor.
