The Ministry of Public Works  today said that there was significant structural advancements on the construction of the New Charity Market Multipurpose Wharf along the Pomeroon River in Region Two.

The project which is being executed by S. Jagmohan Construction and General Supplies Inc. under the Ministry’s Waterfront Development programme, is at thirty percent completion, the ministry said in a statement today.

Substantial progress has been made on the core infrastructure, with the reinforced concrete jetty section of the wharf now largely completed, the statement said. The contractor is presently preparing to cast the remaining four-inch concrete top-up slab to fully finalize the jetty deck.

Simultaneously, works have proceeded to the next critical phase, with the driving of precast concrete piles for the jetty head section of the wharf structure currently underway. Further, the construction team has successfully driven fifty-three precast concrete piles to date.

The contractor is scheduled to begin the demolition of a private wharf previously constructed within the designated work site.
