Private sector invited to tourism conference

The Ministry of Tourism and the Guyana Tourism Authority (GTA) are inviting local businesses to participate in the Caribbean Tourism Organization’s State of the Tourism Industry Conference (SOTIC), which Guyana will host for the first time from October 5 to 9.

The conference, to be held under the theme “Tourism Futures: Smart, Sustainable and Inclusive,” is expected to attract tourism officials, investors, researchers, media representatives and industry leaders from the Caribbean and other markets.

President Irfaan Ali is scheduled to deliver the keynote address at the opening ceremony on October 7.

According to a GTA release yesterday, the programme will cover tourism data and intelligence, technology, sustainable and regenerative tourism, destination competitiveness, Indigenous tourism, the creative economy and cruise tourism.

It will also include an investment luncheon, a cruise master class, business-to-business engagements, networking sessions and the Caribbean Tourism Research Forum.

Businesses involved in accommodation, attractions, transportation, travel and tours, food and beverages, aviation, creative industries, technology, finance and investment are being encouraged to attend.

The programme will begin with CTO business meetings on October 5 and 6, followed by the main conference on October 7 and 8. The Regional Tourism Youth Congress will be held on October 8, while destination media briefings are scheduled for October 9.

Local delegates can register for the full conference week at a reduced rate of US$150, while day passes cost US$50.

Registration details and the full programme are available at [sotic.onecaribbean.org](https://sotic.onecaribbean.org).
