Guyana’s Golden Jaguars maintained their perfect start to the Concacaf Nations League with an emphatic 5-1 victory over Dominica on Thursday, strengthening their grip on the top spot in League B, Group A.

Osaze DeRosario, Omari Glasgow, Deon Moore, Kelsey Benjamin and Enoch George were all on target as Guyana recorded their third consecutive victory and moved to nine points from three matches.

DeRosario continued his goalscoring form by opening the scoring in the 27th minute. Glasgow doubled the advantage in the 41st minute with a well-taken free-kick to send the Golden Jaguars into the break firmly in control.

Guyana continued to press after the restart and Moore made it 3-0 in the 50th minute, further stretching a Dominica defence that struggled to contain the Golden Jaguars.

Dominica managed to pull a goal back in the 75th minute, but any hopes of a late comeback were quickly ended when locally based Benjamin restored Guyana’s three-goal cushion four minutes later.

George then completed the commanding victory with Guyana’s fifth goal in the 90th minute.

The statistics reflected Guyana’s dominance, with the Golden Jaguars producing 15 shots compared to Dominica’s eight. Guyana also registered eight efforts on target, while Dominica managed three.

Thursday’s result leaves Guyana comfortably at the top of the group with nine points from three wins. The Golden Jaguars have scored eight goals and conceded just once for a goal difference of plus seven.

Puerto Rico sit second with three points from two matches, while the Cayman Islands and Dominica each have one point. Dominica have played three matches, while the Cayman Islands have played two.

The Golden Jaguars will now turn their attention to another meeting with Dominica on Sunday, October 4, as they look to continue their unbeaten run and move closer to securing the group.

There is also plenty at stake beyond finishing first. Winning the group would earn Guyana automatic promotion to League A and direct qualification for the 2027 Concacaf Gold Cup, allowing the Golden Jaguars to avoid the multi-team Play-In route.

With three wins from three matches, Guyana have placed themselves in a strong position heading into their next fixture.
