Kuru Kururu FC defeated Timehri United FC over the weekend to capture the 2026 East Bank Football Association (EBFA) Under-13 Youth Ensemble League title.
The championship completed a major turnaround for Kuru Kururu, who failed to win a match in either the EBFA Under-13 or Under-15 leagues in 2025. The club has shown significant improvement this season, maintaining winning runs in both age groups and securing the Under-13 crown.
Kuru Kururu also qualified for the National Championship alongside runners-up Timehri United. The national tournament is scheduled to take place between July and August.
EBFA Coordinator Hodiah Garraway praised the development, determination and commitment shown by the Kuru Kururu players throughout the competition.
“They came out and did their best, won all their games and stayed on top,” Garraway said.
The Under-13 league began on May 16 and featured Kuru Kururu, Timehri United, Herstelling Raiders and Circuit Ville Jaguars. More than 100 young footballers participated in the nine matches played during the competition.
Kuru Kururu’s Immanuel Reid and Timehri United’s Jeremiah Straut shared the top goalscorer award after netting eight goals each.
Okel Morrison of Kuru Kururu was named the Most Valuable Player after scoring five goals, while teammate Dokari Robertson received the best goalkeeper award.
Timehri United’s Raheem Alexander was also among the leading performers with four goals. Leandre Benjamine and Xavi Griffith of Kuru Kururu, along with Micaicah French of Herstelling Raiders, scored two goals each.
Meanwhile, competition in the EBFA Under-15 Youth Ensemble League is continuing ahead of its expected conclusion in late July or early August.
Herstelling Raiders recorded a 5-2 victory over Friendship Allstars, with Tyler Abrams, Robinho Abrams, Wayshawn Forde and Isiyah Williams among the scorers. Anthony Thomas and Kemo Depecizer scored for Friendship Allstars.
Circuit Ville Jaguars also registered a convincing victory, defeating Pakuri FC 7-2. Anton Sampson, Vickash John, Kennvio Bagot and Elon John scored for Circuit Ville, while Zeron Andrews and Xian Simon found the net for Pakuri.
