Defending champions Slingerz FC will begin their Elite League Season 8 title defence against Guyana Police Force FC when the 2026/27 competition opens at the National Training Centre on Sunday, August 30.

The clash will kick off at 9:00 p.m., following an earlier encounter between Santos FC and Anns Grove United at 6:30 p.m.

Season 8 will officially begin one day earlier, on Saturday, August 29, with Den Amstel FC facing Fruta Conquerors FC at 6:30 p.m. Guyana Defence Force FC and Monedderlust FC will meet in the second match at 9:00 p.m.

The 10-team competition will also feature Western Tigers FC and newly promoted Camptown FC. The clubs will contest two rounds for an increased prize package of $12 million.

The champions will pocket $4 million, followed by $3 million for second place, $2 million for third and $1 million for fourth. Fifth place will receive $500,000, while the clubs finishing from sixth to 10th will each collect $300,000.

Season 8 will feature larger club and match-day squads. Clubs can register up to 35 players, compared with 30 last season, while match-day rosters have been expanded from 20 to 23.

The GFF is also examining proposals to allow clubs to host matches at their home grounds. Approval will depend on the commercial arrangements and whether the venues meet the federation’s competition standards.

According to the published fixture list, the season will end on Saturday, April 3, 2027. Den Amstel FC and Monedderlust FC will meet at 6:30 p.m. before Slingerz close their campaign against Western Tigers FC at 9:00 p.m.
