Guyana’s national table tennis team is set to begin its campaign at the XXV Central American and Caribbean Games in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, with the men’s team scheduled to face Guatemala on Saturday.

The Guyanese men will return to action on Sunday against host nation the Dominican Republic as they seek to advance from the team stage of the regional competition.

Guyana’s squad features Shemar Britton, Elishaba Johnson, Niran Bissu and Malachi Moore in the men’s division, while Chelsea Edghill and Jasmine Billingy will represent the country in the women’s events.

The players are expected to compete across the men’s team, singles and doubles competitions, along with the women’s singles and doubles and the mixed doubles events.

The team is being coached by Joel Alleyne.

Guyana will be aiming for strong performances from Britton and Edghill, two of the country’s most experienced international players, while the tournament will also provide Johnson, Bissu, Moore and Billingy with another opportunity to test their skills against leading players from Central America and the Caribbean.

Following the opening men’s team matches, attention will turn to the remaining categories, with the women’s singles competition scheduled to begin on Tuesday, August 4.

The Santo Domingo 2026 Games began on July 24 and will conclude on August 8, bringing together athletes from across the region in several sporting disciplines.
