oel Rambiriche and Anjaneysa Godette led a strong showing by Guyana after advancing to the Under-13 singles semi-finals at the 2026 CAREBACO Junior Championships.

Their qualification for the semi-finals guarantees Guyana two medals, with the young badminton players now aiming to secure places in their respective finals.

Rambiriche booked his spot in the boys’ medal round with a straight-games victory over his Jamaican opponent. He remained composed throughout the contest to win 21-16, 21-17.

Godette delivered a commanding performance against her opponent from Trinidad and Tobago, conceding only 14 points during a convincing 21-4, 21-10 triumph in the girls’ singles.

Christopher Jordan also kept Guyana’s hopes alive in the Under-19 boys’ singles. He comfortably defeated his Jamaican opponent 21-11, 21-7 and will contest the quarter-finals in the next round of matches.

More medal opportunities will be available in the doubles competitions. Jordan and Ruel Rambiriche will oppose Trinidad and Tobago in the Under-19 boys’ doubles quarter-finals, while Percival Chester and Chioke Nurse will meet a Barbadian pair at the same stage.

Rambiriche and Godette will also combine in the Under-13 mixed doubles quarter-finals against Jamaica. A victory would send the Guyanese pair into the medal round.

However, the singles campaigns of Ruel Rambiriche, Nurse, Nikolas Pollard and Chester ended after difficult encounters against players from Jamaica, Guadeloupe, Barbados and Trinidad and Tobago, respectively.
