Guyana’s table tennis players ready for South American Games challenge

Guyana’s national table tennis players will begin their campaigns at the 2026 South American Games in Rosario, Argentina, this morning.

The five-member team comprises Olympian Chelsea Edghill, Shemar Britton, Elishaba Johnson, Colin Wong and Niran Bissu. They will first compete in the men’s and women’s singles competitions before turning their attention to the doubles, mixed doubles and team events.

Guyana will face a strong field featuring some of the best table tennis players from across the Americas. However, the national team enters the competition with a determined blend of experience and youth.

Edghill and Britton bring valuable international experience to the team, while Johnson, Wong and Bissu will also be looking to make their mark on the continental stage.

Table tennis forms part of Guyana’s programme during the second half of the Games. The country will also be represented in squash, archery, taekwondo and athletics.
