Abdullah Shafique struck an unbeaten century and Babar Azam closed on 86 not out as Pakistan reached 266 for two at stumps, trailing the West Indies by just 78 runs in the second Test.

Shafique ended the day on 107 after completing his sixth Test hundred and first since 2024, while Babar moved within 14 runs of his first Test century in four years. Their unbroken 168-run partnership frustrated the West Indies throughout the final session and placed Pakistan in a strong position.

Pakistan made an attacking start through Azan Awais, who scored a bright half-century before falling lbw to Jomel Warrican. Imam-ul-Haq was the other batter dismissed, caught at gully off Shamar Joseph.

Earlier, the West Indies were bowled out for 344 after resuming their innings with Justin Greaves and Roston Chase leading the resistance. Greaves made 73 and Chase added 70 as the hosts scored another 105 runs before being dismissed.

Sajid Khan finished with four wickets for 85 runs, while Ali Usman, Ubaid Shah and the other Pakistan bowlers worked through the lower order.

Pakistan will resume with eight wickets in hand and an opportunity to build a first-innings lead.
