Boy, 3, feared drowned at Agatash

Keron Atkinson

Three-year-old Keron Atkinson is feared drowned after disappearing in a waterway at Agatash Village, Cuyuni-Mazaruni on Friday.

Keron, who celebrated his third birthday on September 26, reportedly left home with his seven-year-old cousin without the knowledge of his guardian.

According to information reaching Kiskadee Watch, the children ventured into the water, where Keron reportedly got into difficulty in a deeper section.

His cousin reportedly attempted to pull him to safety but was unable to maintain his grip. He then ran to alert relatives, prompting a search for the missing toddler.

Kiskadee Watch understands that Keron’s mother is working as a cook in the interior and had left him in the care of a relative.

The area where the incident reportedly occurred is said to be difficult to access on foot, with persons having to navigate muddy terrain to reach the location.

A search party has been mobilised, and police in Bartica have been notified of the incident.

Further details are expected as the search continues.
