Caribbean Airlines completes audits for 2017 to 2019

Caribbean Airlines says it has completed its audited financial statements for 2017, 2018 and 2019 as it works to clear what its chairman described as an inherited nine-year backlog.

The update was presented last week at the airline’s ninth annual general meeting at its Piarco, Trinidad and Tobago headquarters, the airline said in a statement.

According to the airline, its 2020 audited financial statements are expected to be completed by the end of October, while work on the outstanding accounts for 2021 to 2025 is continuing. It did not give completion dates for each of those years or disclose the findings of the three completed audits.

Caribbean Airlines Chairman Reyna Kowlessar said bringing the accounts up to date was necessary to rebuild the carrier and place it on a sustainable footing.

“Bringing the airline’s audited financial statements up to date, following an inherited nine-year backlog, is an essential part of our focus on rebuilding, growing and positioning Caribbean Airlines for lasting success,” she said.

Kowlessar thanked employees for their work and said the airline remained focused on improving reliability and achieving long-term operational and financial success.

The airline said the audit exercise formed part of a wider programme to strengthen its viability and operational performance amid increasing fuel prices and other pressures on the global aviation industry.

It pointed to a route rationalisation programme introduced in 2025 under which its network is being reviewed to ensure that services reflect passenger demand and commercial considerations. No details were provided about routes being considered for changes.
