Businesswoman robbed of $9m outside Springlands financial institution

Police are investigating the armed robbery of a 31-year-old businesswoman who was relieved of more than $9 million in cash outside a financial institution at Springlands, Corriverton, on Thursday.

The police said the woman, of Number 50 Village, Corentyne, arrived at the location at around 12.45 pm with a small suitcase containing $9 million and a shoulder bag containing $15,040 and an iPhone 17 Pro Max.

As she walked towards the institution, she was confronted by a man who allegedly tugged at her shoulder bag, pressed an object against her waist and threatened to shoot her.

Fearful for her life, the woman released the suitcase. The robber also took her shoulder bag before escaping to a waiting motorcycle ridden by an accomplice. The two men then rode south.

Investigators are reviewing footage from surveillance cameras in the area. No arrests have been made.
