CARICOM to explore common legislation on social media access by children

CARICOM Heads of Government at their recent meeting in St Lucia agreed to explore common legislation on social media access by children.

In the communique issued following the meeting it was stated that this process will be done under the leadership of Guyana’s President, Irfaan Ali.

The Heads also agreed to the preparation of guidelines for a policy framework under the leadership of the Prime Minister of Grenada, Lead Head of Government on Science and Information Technology.

The Guyana Government has held a series of consultations on social media access by children in the wake of growing moves internationally to impose limits.
