National Coordinator of the Border Patrol Unit Daniel Seeram was today found guilty of assaulting his now ex-wife and has been remanded to prison pending sentencing.
Seeram will return before Magistrate Abigail Gibbs on November 2, 2026, at the Sparendaam Magistrates’ Court for sentencing.
The conviction stems from a September 2023 incident involving Seeram and his then-wife.
According to reports at the time, the couple became involved in a violent confrontation during the early hours of September 13, 2023, which ended with Seeram allegedly brandishing his licensed firearm.
His wife subsequently made a report at the Turkeyen Police Station, where police observed visible signs of abuse on her body.
Seeram later appeared at the Sparendaam Magistrate’s Court, where Magistrate Alisha George granted him $50,000 bail on the wife-abuse charge.
Police had previously said the matter involved allegations of assault between both Seeram and his wife, with the Director of Public Prosecutions subsequently advising that Seeram be charged with assault causing actual bodily harm.
Following today’s guilty verdict, Seeram, an ex GDF officer, was remanded to prison to await sentencing on November 2.
At the time the charge was laid, Seeram was the PNCR executive and Chairman of Region Four. He later declared support for the PPP/C government and was subsequently named National Coordinator of the Border Patrol Unit.
