Former Special Corporal gets concurrent one-year terms for gun charges

Errol De Florimonte

Former Special Corporal Errol De Florimonte has been sentenced to one year in prison after pleading guilty to charges of possessing a firearm and ammunition without licences.

De Florimonte, 43, appeared last Wednesday before Senior Magistrate Dylon Bess at the Diamond Magistrate’s Court, where the two charges were read to him.

He pleaded guilty to both offences, which were committed on February 19, 2026, at Eccles, East Bank Demerara.

Police in a statement yesterday said De Florimonte was charged with Possession of a Firearm without a Licence and Possession of Ammunition without a Licence.

The court sentenced him to one year’s imprisonment for each offence. The sentences will run concurrently, meaning De Florimonte will serve one year in prison.
