Four persons have been left homeless after a fire destroyed a house yesterday at Lot 795 Zeelugt North, East Bank Essequibo.
The Guyana Fire and Rescue Service said firefighters responded to a report of a house on fire and found the building engulfed in flames upon their arrival.
Despite efforts to contain the blaze, the house was completely destroyed. A neighbouring building sustained minor damage.
The cause of the fire is being investigated.
