GDF Lieutenant Colonel graduates from US War College programme

Lieutenant Colonel John Mohanlall

The Guyana Defence Force (GDF) has congratulated Lieutenant Colonel John Mohanlall on his successful completion of the United States Army War College Resident Education Programme, making him the first GDF officer to graduate from the  programme.

A statement from the GDF said Mohanlall was awarded a Master of Strategic Studies degree and designated a Senior Service College Graduate following the completion of the programme.

Chief of Defence Staff Brigadier Omar Khan along with officers and ranks of the GDF, extended congratulations to Mohanlall on the achievement.

The programme, conducted at Carlisle Barracks, Pennsylvania, provides advanced professional military education at the strategic level and prepares senior military officers, government officials and international fellows for leadership, command and advisory responsibilities.

During the programme, Mohanlall completed graduate-level coursework and strategic research covering national security, military research, defence management, joint operations and international affairs.

His studies also focused on complex national, regional and global security challenges.

The GDF said the qualification represents an important milestone in Mohanlall’s professional career and contributes to the Force’s growing pool of officers with advanced strategic expertise.

It added that the knowledge, analytical skills and professional relationships gained through the programme will support the GDF’s work in strategic planning, defence management and institutional development.
