House destroyed by fire at Victoria

The Guyana Fire Service (GFS) today responded to a fire at Lot 1, Victoria Village, East Coast, Demerara.

Water Tender # 125, Water Carrier # 35 and Ambulance # 25 crew from Mahaica and Melanie Fire Station, along with their respective crews, were dispatched to the location, the GFS said.

Upon arrival, firefighters observed the wooden building of one floor was completely engulfed in flames. Through swift and coordinated firefighting efforts, firefighters brought the blaze under control, the GFS said.

The fire was subsequently extinguished, but the building and its contents were destroyed.

Investigations are ongoing to determine the cause of the fire.
