J&W Training and Consultancy has concluded Guyana’s first-ever Heavy Equipment Training Camp specifically designed for children, marking a milestone as the company celebrated its third anniversary.
The five-day camp, which ran from Monday, August 3, to Friday, August 7, 2026, catered to 17 children between the ages of 12 and 15, a release from the company said. Participants were exposed to classroom instruction, hands-on practical training, simulator technology and interactive activities, providing them with an early introduction to heavy equipment operation.
With the support of six experienced trainers, the release said that participants received hands-on exposure to three major pieces of heavy equipment: the Hydraulic Excavator, Skid Steer Loader and Compactor Roller. They were introduced to basic machine controls and operations, as well as the importance of conducting pre-operation inspections and following proper safety procedures.
Safety education formed a key component of the programme. Takchandra Safety Solutions delivered a presentation on the importance of safety on the job site.
The team from Titans Safety Solutions Inc. also conducted a practical fire safety demonstration, the release stated.
Another major attraction of the camp was the dedicated RC Control Section, which featured remote-controlled excavators, trucks and bulldozers. Participants also employed a heavy equipment simulator connected to a large television screen, allowing them to virtually operate different types of machinery while developing coordination and muscle memory in a safe and engaging environment.
The camp concluded on Friday with a certificate presentation ceremony, where all 17 participants were recognized for successfully completing the programme. Managing Director Chavez John officially declared the 2026 Heavy Equipment Training Camp closed.
