Canada’s new High Commissioner to Guyana, Deborah Gomes-Schultz, presented her Letters of Commission to President Irfaan Ali yesterday.

In a post on his Facebook page, Ali said their meeting addressed strengthening bilateral relations and expanding cooperation between the two countries.

The President described the relationship as one built on friendship, mutual respect and cooperation.

Gomes-Schultz succeeds the former high commissioner Sébastien Sigouin.

Guyana and Canada established formal diplomatic relations on May 26, 1966, marking 60 years of diplomatic ties this year.
